Defending champion USA kicks off day 2 at women’s water polo world tournament, Hungary plays againts France in the evening. Fans will most definitely appreciate the Russia-Australia match . There will be 8 matches played in Hajós Alfréd Complex on Tuesday.

09:30 - USA – Spain (Group B)

10:50 - New Zealand – South Africa (Group B)

Group B kicks off the day with two unbeaten teams jumping into the pool. USA is the favourite against Spain, after they beat South Africa easily. Spain started with a victory as well but it would be a suprise if they, world champions four years ago, could beat defending champions.

In the second game, teams are seeking to avoid „relegation”, because whoever loses will probably end up last place in this group. Both teams scored twice in their first games, but while New Zealand only conceded 10 goals, South Africa conceded 24 to USA.

Standings: 1. USA 2 p, 2. Spain 2 p, 3. New Zealand 0 p, 4. South Africa 0 p.

12:10 - Japan – Netherlands (Group C)

Hungary will most definitely watch this game closely and observe how the Dutch play as they will probably meet in the battle for the first place in the group on Thursday. Netherlands started with az easy win againts France on Sunday, while Japan went down againts host team, Hungary. Netherlands – runner-ups at the World Championships in 2015 - is the favourite, but Japan’s fast, unpleasant style could couse some headaches for them, as they scored 11 times against Hungary.

Standings: 1. Netherlands 2 p, 2. Hungary 2 p, 3. Japan 0 p, 4. France 0 p.

13:30 - Greece – Kazakhstan (Group D)

17:30 - Australia – Russia (Group D)

The game between Greece and Kazakhstan ends the morning programme of the day. Greece seeks to improve after Sunday’s surprise loss againts Russia. They are the heavy favourites and this is a must win game for them if the want to stay in contention.

Two unbeaten teams face off in the first game of the afternoon program. Australia won easily on Sunday while Russia won againts Greece, too, which was the tightest game so far in the tournament. Probably this game will determine who wins the group of death, so this one should be really tense.

Standings: 1. Australia 2 p, 2. Russia 2 p, 3. Greece 0 p, Kazakhstan 0 p.

18:50 - China – Canada (Group A)

The two teams look forward to this game from contrasting starting positions, because Canada – preparing with a Greek head coach - lost to Italy, whereas China was able to beat Brazil on Sunday. With another victory, China would be in contention for the first place in this group and would battle with Italy on Thursday.

Standings: 1. China 2 p, 2. Italy 2 p, 3. Canada 0 p, Brazil 0p.

20:10 - France – Hungary (Group C)

France suffered an ugly loss on Sunday to Netherlands, especially in the first half, where the score was 12-0. The hosting Hungarian team won confidently, but their defence against Japan was far from excellent. They should take this game seriously, yet they may prepare in mind for their next game against Netherlands, which will determine who wins Group C.

21:30 - Italy – Brazil (Group A)

Brazil led 2-0 against China on Sunday, but eventually they lost 11-4. The upcoming game might turn out to be even more difficult against Italy, who beat Canada with a very similar final result, 10-4. Italy is the favourite in the last game of the day and with a win, they could battle out the first place against China on Thursday.
