Swimming: British roster for Budapest is already known

A 29-strong British Swimming team has been selected to compete at this summer’s FINA World Championships in Budapest – official British Swimming announcement said.

The Greece women’s water polo team did not have any notable result in the 90’s, but achieved some great ones in the 2000’s, like the silver medal at the 2004 Olympics and the gold medal at the 2011 FINA World Championships. The Galanolefki, however, have not won any medals in a major international tournament since 2012, they even failed to qualify for the last two Olympic Games, so it would be a big surprise, if they got close to the podium at the 17th FINA World in Budapest.

Training for volunteers at the 17th FINA World Championships of summer commenced

The first training session for volunteers at the 17th FINA World Championships and the following 17th Masters World Championships kicked off on April 23, 2017. More than 8000 people have joined the volunteer programme by BP2017 so far, after the selection process about 3500 volunteers will assist the organisers of the WCH and participating athletes.

They look up to different athletes as their role models, namely Therese Alshammar, Michael Jordan and Muhammad Ali, respectively. One of them loved swimming from the very first moment, the second one does not even like cold water up to now and the third one did not dare to get into the shower at all in his childhood. What is common in the trio of Sarah Sjöström, Gregorio Paltrinieri and Adam Peaty? All three claimed Olympic gold medal in Rio and all of them won the World Championships in Kazan – and they were the first international swimmers the new Danube Arena welcomed.

China claimed 37 of 40 gold medals in FINA/NVC Diving World Series

The final edition of the FINA/NVC Diving World Series was held at the Windsor International Aquatics & Training Centre from April 21-23rd. China won 8 of 10 gold in Canada, only British Jack Laugher and the Russian pair of Evgenii Kuznetsov and Ilia Zakharov could break the Chinese dominancy.

One of the greatest venues of the 17th FINA World Championships will be Balatonfüred, open water swimming events will take place here from 15 to 21 July. The Hungarian swimming championships finished on Saturday evening and an hour later Csaba Sós, the national coach announced the hosts’ team for the 17th FINA World Championships to be held in July in Budapest. It seems that first in the history of championships Hungary delegates competitors to all events.

2001 marks the first time Asia hosted the greatest aquatic event, the elite competed between 16-29 July in Fukuoka. This was the only World Championship that Australia topped the overall medal table thanks to its brilliant delegation of swimmers. The WCH saw the debut of three events and the number of athletes was way higher. Ren Qian, the Chinese super talent

Chinese divers have dominated major international events for a couple of decades, and there are more and more young talented athletes in the Asian country, like Ren Qian. The 15-year-old super talent at the time won the gold medal in the 10m platform at the 2016 Olympics, following a silver medal at the 2015 FINA World Championships and a gold medal at the 2016 FINA Diving World Cup. Qian will be one of the favourites at the 17th FINA World in Budapest.
