Flash Quotes: Men's 3m Synchro Springboard

0 0

It is the first time since 2003 that Russia has claimed the gold medal in Men's 3m Synchro Springboard. The young Chinese duo finished second, while Ukraine clinched bronze.

Evgenii Kuznetsov/Ilia Zakharov (RUS): "First of all we don't compare our accomplishments to Chinese or any others, because they are old friends of ours. We strived together for victory. We did everything to win and at the end we succeeded. The last dive was almost perfect and we managed to win. Now we just want to have some rest. We could win on the first day of the championships and this shows that we are full of energy and we are going to continue. We will prepare for our individual events and the next big step will be the Olympics in Tokyo."

Cao Yuan/Xie Siyi (CHN): "We are disappointed because we qualified for the final in first place, but then we didn't manage to do our best. The team was formed only last December, we need more time to practice. We gained valuable experience, we learned a lot and we will do better next time."

Oleg Kolodiy/Ilya Kvasha (UKR): "We are extremely happy to win a medal in the last competition of the day. In Kazan we finished fourth, but now, with Oleg we finally managed to finish among the top three. We have a new team, we worked hard on becoming stronger so it is a great feeling to achieve such a good result, especially being on the podium."
