Success in Sport Diplomacy: Budapest is hosting the annual FINA Gala

Brand new success in Sport Diplomacy: Budapest is hosting the annual FINA Gala, where the International Swimming Federation announce the „FINA Best Athletes of the Year in 2015” in each of the six disciplines.

It's pretty like the Goldeb Ball Awards in soccer. It was held in Doha in the previous year. This annual event is a real celebration by taking part with all of the 208 member- countries of FINA. It was a memorable event for the Hungarians because Katinka Hosszú was awared as the best female athlete of the Year in 2014. The Hungarian Capital is going to welcome The „FINA Best Athletes of the Year” Gala in January 2016.

The vote is organized by the FINA Aquatics World Magazine. The best althletes in swimming, water polo, diving, high diving, syncro and open water swimming will be announced in Vigado at 31 January.

Gyárfás Tamás, the President of the Hungarian Swimming Federation, the Vicepresident of FINA said: "This is not only a dinner but some other important events and meetings will take place during the four days long programme.  The Executive Bureau will also have a seating where the members will take some emphatic decisions, like the host of the FINA Worlds in 2021. More countries have already shown big interest to visit the venues, sites, and hotels of the up-coming World Championships. This event also gives us chance to get in contact with the leaders of delegations in order to start the communications with the participants.”
