Budapest hosted the European Championships in 1958, 2001 and 2014 at this place, but also organized many times the final of the Champions League. There was always full house, with expert audience.

„World championships can be great in a city and in a country where people love water polo like in Budapest and in Hungary. This World Champs will happen in front of full house like every time here. Beginning of December during an international club tournament, the Greek team Olympiakos and Spanish team Sabadell played in Budapest. We asked two players of these teams about World Championships.
„I can’t wait for the starts. We will start trainings for this event at the end of May, begining of June. Those training will be very hard because we couldn’t reach good results in the last few events. Our plan is to reach the podium in Budapest” – told Anna Espar, one of the best players of Spain.
Triantafyllia Manolioudaki – world champion in Sanghaj with Greece in 2011 – said she loves Budapest: „We play always in front of a very big crowd and we can do it in a very few place in the world. But Budapest and Hungary always do their best and the audience inspire us in the pool. Here everyone loves water sports, we felt it during European Championships in 2014 also. I hope we can reach the final four at the end of World Championships.”
